A train 150 m long is travelling at a speed of 46 km/hr. A man is running at a speed of 8 km/hr in a direction opposite to the motion of the train. What would be the time taken by the train to cross the man (in seconds)?
10 sec
Time taken = Distance travelled / Speed
Here, Distance = length of the train( man doesn't have significant distance, so it is neglected) = 150 m
Speed, here it is Relative speed, as they are moving in opposite direction, their relative speed = 46 km/hr + 8 km/hr = 54 km/hr, but we have to convert it into m/s. So, 54×518 = 15 m/s
So now, the time taken by the train to cross the man (in seconds)= 150 m15 m/s = 10 sec
