Question

A train 400 m long is traveling at a speed of 45km/h. How long will it take to cross another train 450 m long standing at the platform.

Open in App
Solution

Formula for converting from X km/hr to m/s:=X*5/18 m/sec

Speed = 45 km/hr = 45* 5/18 m/sec
Speed = 25/2 m/sec

Distance = length of train +length of other train
Total distance to be covered = (400+450)m = 850 m.

Formula to calculate time =Distance/speed

Required time =850*2/25=68sec

Answer =68sec
