A train at rest tends to move from the platform and it attains a speed of 100 km/hr after a few seconds. While trying to come in motion, what force(s) does it needs to overcome?
Static Friction
When an object begins to move from the rest, the frictional force acting on the object is called static friction, which it has to overcome. Since the train attains a speed of 100 km/hr it is supported by the rolling friction not opposed by it. In absence of rolling friction, the train won't move in the first place.
