Question

A train moves northwards with speed 80kmh1, while a car moves towards east with a speed of 60kmh1. What is the velocity of the train w.r.t the driver of the car?

Open in App
Solution

Let the east direction be along ^i and north direction be along ^j.
Then , the velocity of train, vtrain = 80 kmh1 ^j
Velocity of car, vcar = 60 kmh1 ^i
Therefore , velovity of the train w.r.t the driver of the car = vtrain - vcar
= 80 kmh1 ^j - 60 kmh1 ^i
