A train travels 112 km in 1 hour 20 minutes with a certain speed. How many kilometres will it travel in 4 hours 45 minutes with the same speed?

Given that,
The train travels 112 km in 1 hour 20 minutes.

If we consider this time in minutes, it is 80 minutes.
That is, 112 km in 80 mins.

4 hour 45 minutes can be written as,
=(4×60)+45=240+45=285 minutes

So, this is an example of direct proportion.
Let the distance travelled in 285 minutes be x km.

So,
80112=285x

x=285×11280

x=399 kilometres

Hence the train travels 399 kilometres in 285 minutes.
