Speed of first train = 40 km/h
$= 40 \times \frac{5}{18} m / s$
Speed of second train = 20 m/s
$∴$ Required ratio $= \frac{S p e e d o f f i r s t t r a i n}{S p e e d o f s e c o n d t r a i n} = \frac{40 \times \frac{5}{18}}{20} = \frac{2 \times 5}{18} = \frac{10}{18} = \frac{5}{9} o r 5 : 9$
