Question

A transformer converts 200 V ac into 2000 V ac. Calculate the number of turns in the secondary if the primary has 10 turns.

Open in App
Solution

The voltage in primary or secondary coil of a transformer is proportional to the number of turns in the coil.
Hence VsVp=NsNp
where Vs,Ns are the voltage and number of turns in secondary coil respectively.
Vp,Np are the voltage and number of turns in primary coil respectively.
Hence 2000200=Ns10
Ns=100 turns
