74.75 of chlorine mean 74.75g chlorine present in 100g of metal chloride.
Weight of metal=100g-74.75g=25.25g
Equivaent weight=weight of metal weight of chlorine ×35.5g

valency of metal=2×V.Dequivalentweightofmetal+35.5×35.5=4
therefore formula of compound =MCl4
