Question

A transplanted cornea of eye is rarely rejected. Why?

Open in App
Solution

  • The cornea of the eye is devoid of blood supply. So, the immune cells do not circulate in the anterior chamber of the eye.

  • As there is no blood supply, antibodies do not circulate into this portion of the eye. Hence, we can transplant cornea of the eye easily with fewer rejections.
