The correct option is D 14 km
Let us take positive X axis as South, negative x axis as North, positive Y axis as East and negative Y axis as West as given in above figure.
Let's take the intersecting point of two lines as starting point of 'A'.
'A' travel 5 km West from origin, then 3 km towards South, again 9 km towards West and then 3 km North.
Finally he arrives at Y axis, covering a distance 14 km towards West.
Y axis is in West from origin i.e. starting point.
Thus, he is 14 km far from the starting point.
Hence, option D is correct.
