If the height of the object increases, shadow increases.

So this case is direct variation.

Let tree and ploe to be an object $x$

Initial height$=24$m

Initial length of shadow$=15$m

Final length of shadow$=6$m

Shadow decreases, so height of object also decreases.

Height of the tree$=\frac{24}{15}\times 16=9.6$m

$\therefore$ Height of the tree is $9.6$m
