In $△ABC$, we have

$A{C}^2=A{B}^2+B{C}^2$

$\Rightarrow 5^2+{12}^2=169$

Therefore, $AC=\sqrt{169}=13$ m
$KB=KA+AB=AC+AB$ ....Since $(KA=AC)=(13+5)$ m $=18$ m
Thus original height of the tree is $18$ m.
