There are many types of genetic mutation:

1. Point Mutation - a change in one base in the DNA sequence. For example - Original sequence has TAACTGCAAGTT and Point Mutation would have TAACTTCAAGTT.

2. Silent Mutation - cause no change in their product and cannot be detected without sequencing the gene. For example, if the third base in the TCT codon for serine is changed to any one of the other three bases, serine will still be encoded.

3. Insertion Mutation - in which extra base pairs are inserted into a new place in the DNA. For example- Original one has TACTGCAAGTT and Insertion mutation would have TACTGCCAAGTT.
