Given, a uniform wire of resistance R cut into 20 equal pieces.

Resistance of a wire is,

R=ρlA Rl

Resistance of each piece of wire will be, R=R20

Now, 10 pieces are connected in series and the remaining are connected in parallel.

Let, effective resistance in series and parallel be Rsand Rp

Rs=10R=R2

Rp=Rn=R10=R200

Finally, Rs and Rp are connected in series,

Reff=Rs+Rp

=R2+R200=101R200
