A uniform metallic spherical shell is suspended from ceiling. It has two holes A and B at top and bottom respectively.
If shell is completely filled with sand and B is opened then centre of mass falls initially and then rises
When shell is empty, the centre of mass coincides with centre of the shell. If lower hole B is closed and sand is poured from the upper hole A, Then the lower part of the shell becomes heavier than upper part, therefore the centre of mass falls. But when the shell gets filled completely, the centre of mass coincides again with centre of the shell. Hence A is wrong.
If shells is completely filled and the hole B is opened, then centre of mass falls initially and then rises and coincides with centre of the shell again. Hence B is correct.
