A uniform rod of mass m is kept vertically on a horizontal frictionless surface at a point O. If it is disturbed slightly and released , it falls down on the horizontal surface. The lower end will be at O or at some distance from O.

The lower end will be at some distance from O ,because there is no friction so when the rod is slightly disturbed the lower end will move some distance while the rod falls.
