A uniform slab of dimension 10 cm × 10 cm × 1 cm is kept between two heat reservoirs at temperatures 10C and 90C. The larger surface areas touch the reservoirs. The thermal conductivity of the material is 0.80Wm1C1 Find the amount of heat flowing through the slab per minute.

l = 1 cm = 0.01 m

A = 10cm×10cm

=0.1×0.1m2=1×102m2

k = 0.80 W/mC

Qt=kA(T1T2)l

=8×101×102×(9010)1×102

= 64 J/s = 3840J/min.
