Solution
When metals get exposed to the environment, the metal loses their shine or strength or is covered with a coloured layer.
This occurs due to the chemical reaction between metals and the environment and the process is known as corrosion.
When Copper or brass is exposed to the environment, a green-coloured layer is deposited on its surface.
Therefore, due to corrosion the utensils lost their lustre and forms a green-coloured layer on them.
