A vegetable seller buys 5 kg of bananas at the rate of ₹50 per kg. He sells 4 kg of banana at the rate of ₹60 and the remaining 1 kg for ₹55. How much profit does he make in total?

Solution:

The buying price of 1 kg of banana = ₹50
The buying price of 5 kg of banana = ₹50 × 5 = ₹250
( 1 mark )

The selling price of 4 kg of banana = ₹60 × 4 = ₹240
( 0.5 marks )
The selling price of remaining 1 kg banana = ₹55

Total money received from selling 5 kg of banana= ₹240 + ₹55
= ₹295
( 0.5 mark )

Total profit made = Money received from selling - Money spent on buying
= ₹295 - ₹250 = ₹45
( 1 mark )
