Given : Height of column $(h) = 15 m$ , side of square $(a) = 20 c m = \frac{20}{100} m$
Perimeter of square $= 4 a = 4 \times \frac{20}{100}$
Clearly, the area of the vertical surfaces = perimeter of the base × height of the column
$= 4 \times \frac{20}{100} \times 15 = 12 c m^{2}$
$∴$ The required cost of painting the vertical surfaces
$= 12 \times 2.25 =$ 27$
Hence, the answer is $27$ .
