Solution

The correct option is B 0.005/C
Given vertical column of liquid h1=50 cm
Temperature T1=50oC
given another vertical column of same liquid

h2=60 cm

T2=100oC

Let the density of gives liquid at STP=ρ0

if both vertical columns balances each other then their pressure should be equal

P=ρgH

ρ= density
g= acceleration due gravity
H= height

ρ1gh1=ρ2gh2ρ1ρ2=h2h1....(1)

let r be coefficient of expansion of liquid
=ρ1=ρ0/(1+rT1) ρ2=ρ0/(1+rT2)

Putting this in (1)

ρ1ρ2ρ/(1+rT1)ρ0(1+rT2)=h2h1=6050

=1+rT21+rT1=655+5rT2+6+6rT1

5rT26rT1=1

=5×r×1006×r×30=1

=200r=1r=0.005/ oC

Hence coefficient of absolute expansion of liquid
is 0.005/ oC
