Question

A vertical rod of length l is moved with constant velocity v towards east. The vertical component of earth magnetic field is B and angle of dip is θ. The induced e.m.f. in the rod is
(1) Blv sin θ (2) Blv tan θ (3) Blv cot θ (4) Blv cos θ

Solution

Dear Student,
As we know angle of dip is difine as angle made by total magnetic field of earth with horizontal if vertical component of magnetic field is B then total magnetic field (B')=B/sin(θ)and horizontal magnetic field (B'')=Bcot(θ)so emf induced =vBcot(θ)l=vBlcot(θ)
