The correct option is C 2.4 cm
Given, height up to which glycerine filled, (h)=12 cm
Let the level difference between 2 limbs be x.


Density of glycerine, (ρg)=1.2×1000=1200 kg/m3
Density of water (ρw)=1000 kg/m3
Pressure on the line YY should be same below both limbs, so
Po+ρg×g×h=Po+ρw×g(h+x)
where Po is atmospheric pressure.
1200×g×h=1000×g(h+x)
1200×0.12=1000(0.12+x)
x=0.024 m=2.4 cm
