Let the level difference between 2 limbs be x.
Density of glycerine, (ρg)=1.2×1000=1200kg/m3
Density of water (ρw)=1000kg/m3
Pressure on the line YY′ should be same below both limbs, so Po+ρg×g×h=Po+ρw×g(h+x)
where Po is atmospheric pressure. ⇒1200×g×h=1000×g(h+x) ⇒1200×0.12=1000(0.12+x) ⇒x=0.024m=2.4cm
