A vessel at 1000 K contains carbon dioxide with a pressure of 0.4 atm. Some of the carbon dioxide is converted to carbon monoxide on addition of graphite. Calculate the value of K if the total pressure at equilibrium is 0.7 atm

The correct option is A 3.6 atm
CO2(g)+C(s)2CO(g)
Suppose decrease in pressure of CO2 after reaction = x atm
Final pressure=0.7
Then increase in pressure due to CO=2x
Final pressure=(0.4x)+2x=0.4+x=0.7 atm
x=0.3 atm
Hence, PCO2=0.40.3=0.1 atm
PCO=2×0.3=0.6 atm
K=P2COPCO2=0.620.1=3.6 atm
