A virtual image three time's the size of the object with a concave mirror of radius of curvature 36cm. Find the distance of the object from the mirror.

Given that,

Magnification m=3

We know that,

The magnification is

m=vu

3=vu

v=3u

Now, by using mirror formula

1f=1v+1u

1f=13u+1u

1f=23u....(I)

We know that,

f=R2

f=362

f=18cm

Now, put the value of f in equation (I)

1f=23u

118=23u

3u=36

u=363

u=12cm

Hence, the distance of the object from the mirror is -12cm
