Question

A wall of length 10m was to be built across an open ground. The height of the wall is 4m and thickness of the wall is 24cm. If this wall is to be built up with bricks whose dimensions are 24cm*20cm*8cm, then how many bricks would be required?

Solution

Volume of the wall across play ground is nothing but a cuboid.

Therefore, Volume of the wall
=lbh
l=10m=1000cm
b=24cm
h=4m=400cm
lbh=1000x24x400=9600000cm3

=

Now, each brick is a cuboid with length = 24cm, breadth = 20 cm and height = 8 cm

So, volume of each brick = length × breadth × height

=3840cm3

Number of bricks required

=volumeofthewall/volumeofeachbrick
=2500
