Speed of a transverse wave on a wire is,

v=Tμ .....(i)

Differentiating with respect to tension, we have

dvdT=12μT

Dividing Eq.(ii) by Eq.(i), we have

dvv=12dTTor dT=(2T)dvv

Substituting the proper values, we have

dT=(2)(500)(312300)300=6.67 N

i.e., tension should be increased by 6.67 N.
