Rewriting the above equation, we get

y(x, t)=[ 4e4(x5t)2 ] m .........(2)

Assuming, the shape of a wave pulse does not change with time,
y(x,t)=y(xvt,0)

From (1) we get,

y(x,0)=[ 4e(4x2) ] m

Replacing x with xvt in the above equation,
