Question

A wave with a frequency of 30 Hz travels along a string at a speed of 36 meter per second and reflects off from a free end. How far (in m) is the first node from the end of the string ?

Open in App
Solution

Given, frequency of the wave, f=30 Hz
Speed of the wave, v=36 m/s

λ=vf=36 m/s30=1.2 m

As the wave reflects from free end of the string it means there will be antinode.

We know that the distance between antinode and the next node, =λ4
λ4=1.24=0.3 m

Final answer: (0.30)
