A well 14m inside diameter is dug 15m deep. Earth taken out is spread all around to a wridth of 7m to form a embankment. Find the height of the embankment.

Solution

Vol of earth taken out= πr²h = (22/7)77*15= 2310 m³
Area of the embankment = π(R²-r²)
Width of embankment= 7 m. So R= 7+7= 14 m
Area= (22/7)(14²-7²)= 462 m²
Therefore, height of embankment= 2310 m³/462 m² = 5m
