Solution

(a)A balanced chemical equation is a recipe for a reaction. It contains a list of all the reactants and products as well as their relative proportions. Using a balanced chemical equation to calculate amounts of reactants and products is calledstoichiometry.

(b)
Theatomicityof an element is the number of atoms present in one molecule of the element.

Hydrogen: diatomic

The number of atoms present in a molecule ofphosphorusis 4. So theatomicity of phosphorusis 4

Atomicityofsulphur= 8. ie, in one molecule ofsulphur(S8), eight atoms ofsulphurare present.

(c)
2Nmeans two molecules ofNitrogenatom whileN2 means two atoms ofnitrogen inone molecule. N2 shows that twonitrogenare bonded with a covalent bond, and it becomesnitrogengas whereas2Ndoes not show any bond, it just shows two number ofnitrogen.
