a) Pollination is the primary mode of sexual reproduction in flowering plants and is an important phenomenon in the life cycle of these plants.

Two types of pollination are-

  • SELF-POLLINATION- It is the transfer of pollen grains from anthers to the stigma of a same or different but genetically similar flower.
  • CROSS POLLINATION- It is the transfer of pollen grains from the anthers of one flower to the stigma of a genetically dissimilar flower of the same species.
b)

The four whorls of a flower:

  • Pedicel: The stalk of the flower connecting it to the plant.
  • Sepals: The green part of the flower that covers the bud and is connected to the stalk of the flower.
  • Carpel: It is the female reproductive part.
  • Stamen: It is the male reproductive part.
  • Petals: The colored petals attract pollinators.
