(a) What is the special feature of the structure of : (i) C2H4, (ii) C2H2?
(b) What type of reaction is common to both these compounds? Why methane does not undergo this type of reaction?
(i) Both are unsaturated hydrocarbons. C2H4 (Ethene) contains carbon to carbon double bond and C2H2 (Ethyne) contains carbon to carbon triple bond.
(ii) Both these compounds undergo addition reactions. Methane, being a saturated hydrocarbon, doesn't undergo addition reaction.
