Solution

(a)Wind is the natural flow of air that we humans can detect. Wind is created when changes in temperatures cause air to move from high to low pressure areas. Low pressure areas are often where warm air is, because when air gets heated by the sun it rises, resulting in air that is less dense. This implies that there are are fewer air molecules and therefore less pressure.
The type of energy which is produced by wind is kinetic energy.
In simple terms kinetic energy can be defined as the energy which is in motion
i.e. energy which a moving body possesses , when in motion.
Clearly this type of energy is possessed by wind because wind is never static it is always in motion.

(b)
The fast moving wind strikes the wind turbine which starts rotating. The shaft of the wind turbine also rotates and drives the generator which produces electricity.

(c) Advantages of using wind energy for generating electricity:
(i) It does not cause any pollution.
(ii) It is available free of cost.

(d) Limitations of wind energy:
(i) Wind energy farms cannot be established everywhere. They can be established only at those places where wind blows for most part of the year.
(ii) Wind energy farms require large area of land for their establishment.
