Question

A wheel is making revolutions about its axis with uniform angular acceleration. Starting from rest, it reaches 100 rev/sec in4 seconds. Find the angular acceleration. Find the angle rotated during these four seconds.

Solution

Given:
The initial angular speed of the wheel is ω0=0
The final angular speed of the wheel is ωf=100 rev/s
ωf=100 rev/s×2π=200 π rad/s

Using the equation of motion for the wheel:
ωf=ω0+αt
ωf=αt

α=200 π4=50π rad/s2 or 25 rev/s2

Now, the angular displacement of the wheel is given as:
θ=ωt+12αt2

θ=0+12×50π×(4)2=400π rad

α=50π rad/s2 or 25 rev/s2

θ=400π rad.
