Question

A wheel rotates with a constant angular acceleration ω0=0.75 rad/s at time t=0.Consider angular position at t=0 as θ0=0.Find out
(a)angular speed at t=5s
(b)it's angular position at time t=5s
(c)how much time will it take to reach an angular position of θ=10 radian?

Solution

The kinematics law for rotational motion are:
ω=ω0+αt ..(1)
θ=θ0+ω0t+12αt2 ..(2)
ω2ω202αθ ...(3) Here,
ω is angular velocity at time t,
ω0 is angular velocity at time t=0 ,
α is angular acceleration ,
θ is angular position at time t and θ0 is angular position at time t=0
(a) ω=0.75+(0.5×5) from(1)
=0.75+2.5=1.75rad/s
(b) θ=0+(0.75×50+12×(0.5×25) from (2)
=3.75+6.25=2.5rad
(c) 10=0+(0.75×t)+12×(0.5×t2) from(2)
10=0.75+0.25t2
0.25t20.75t10=0
t23t400 (divinding by 0.25)
t=3±9+4×402=3±1692=3+132=8s (taking positive root)
