Mendel choose pea plants for studying inheritance because of following reasons:
∙ Many varieties are available in alternative forms.
∙ Varieties were available in pure forms that breed true., i.e., produced the same type generation after generations.
∙ Peas are normally self-pollinated but self-pollination could be prevented by removing corresponding reproductive parts (male part stamens and female part carpels) of the flower and could as well cross-pollinate artificially
