(a) Why does blue vitriol change to white on heating ? (b) Write its formula.

Blue vitriol is copper sulphate pentahydrate which is blue in colour. On heating it loses its water molecule and become anhydrous and is white in colour.
CuSO4 . 5H2O CuSO4 + 5 H2OBlue vitriol Anhydrous
