Given: A wire is bent into a circle. The effective resistance across the diameter is 8Ω
To find the resistance of the wire.
Solution:
As a wire is bent in the circular form, diameter divides into two equal parts as shown in the above figure.
Let Resistance of each part =R1Ω
And resistance across the diameter given is RAB=8Ω
Hence from figure,
RAB=R1×R1R1+R18=R1×R12R18=R12R1=16Ω
Resistance of each part, is 16Ω
So, the total resistance of the entire wire=2R1=2×16=32Ω
