A wire is in the shape of rectangle its length is $40cm$ and breadth is $22cm$. If the same wire is given the shape of square what will be the measure of each side? Also find which rectangular or square encloses more area.

Length of rectangle $=40cm$

Breadth of rectangle $=22cm$

Perimeter of rectangle $=2(l+b)=2(40+22)=2\times 62=124cm$

Area of rectangle $=40\times 22=880c{m}^2$

Now, Perimeter of rectangle $=$ Perimeter of square

Let side of the square be $a$

$\therefore 4a=124$

$\Rightarrow a=\frac{124}{4}=31cm$

Hence, area of square $=31\times 31=961c{m}^2$

Thus, square enclosed more area.
