Question

A wire of 5ohm is bent to form a square.What is the equivalent resistance in ohm across the diagonally opposite vertice of the square?

Open in App
Solution

Since the wire is bend in the form of a square and we know that the sides of square are equal so each side will have same resistance i.e. 5/4=1.25 ohms.Now if we make a diagonal so the two faces in each side of a diagonal will have two sides and the resistance will be 2.5 ohms

So the total effective resistance will be

1 / R = 2 / 2.5 = 4 / 5

R =5/4 = 1.25 ohms

Hope you understand :)
