Question

A wire of resistance 5Ω is drawn out so that its length is increased to twice its original length. Calculate its new resistance and resistivity.

Open in App
Solution

we have R=ρLA if we increase the length the resistance is also increase
In this case length become 2L so R1=ρ2LA=2R
R=5Ω
R1=2×5=10Ω
new resistance is 10Ω ,resistivity is constant it is a matrial property
