FSH and LH are the gonadotropins secreted from anterior pituitary. FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone) stimulates the development of follicles upto ovulation. LH (Luteinizing hormone) also stimulates development of ovarian follicles and triggers ovulation. A rise in LH levels leads to ovulation i.e. release of ovum from mature follicle. Ovulation occurs on 14th or 15th day of menstrual cycle. So, FSH and LH must be given to the woman in small dose along with a high dose of LH on fifteenth day to make her conceive and have a baby.
