(a) Write down an equation that defines density.
(b) 5 kg of material A occupy 20 m3 whereas 20 kg of material B occupy 90 cm3. Which has the greater density : A or B? Support your answer with calculations.

(a) Density of substance = mass of substancevolume of substance
(b) For material A:
Mass = 5 kg
Volume = 20 cm3=20×106m3
Density of material A = 520×106=0.25×106kg/m3
For material B:
Mass = 20 kg
Volume = 90 cm3=90×106m3
Density of material A = 2090×106=0.22×106kg/m3
Density of material A is more than density of material B.
