(i) iron with steam.

(b)
(ii) calcium and potassium with water.

Solution

(a)
When a metal reacts with steam then the products formed are metal oxide and hydrogen gas.

Similarly, iron reacts with steam to form iron oxide with the evolution of hydrogen gas.

Chemical equation:

3Fe(s)+4H2O(g)Fe3O4(s)+4H2(g)

(b)

Calcium reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Chemical equation:
Ca(s)+2H2O(I)Ca(OH)2(aq)+H2(g)

Potassium reacts vigorously with water, to form potassium hydroxide and this reaction is highly exothermic.

Chemical equation:
2K(s)+2H2O(I)2KOH(aq)+H2(g)+heat
