Given that ABC is a right triangle with A=90,AB=12 cm and AC=16 cm.



Let the radius of the incircle of ΔABC be r.

In ΔABC, by Pythagoras theorem,

BC2=AB2+AC2BC2=(12)2+(16)2 BC2=144+256BC2=400BC=20cm

Now, area of Δ ABC=12×AB×AC=12×12×16=96cm2

Also, area of Δ ABC = area of Δ OAB + area of Δ OCB + area of Δ OCA

96=12×OP× AB+12×OQ×BC+12×OR×AC 96=12×r×12+12×r×20×r×16 ( OP=OQ=OR=r)96=24rr=4 cm


Thus, the radius of the incircle of ΔABC is 4 cm.
