Given that ABC is an isosceles triangle.
The 2 vertices are B(1,3)=(x2,y2) & C(2,7)=(x2,y2)
Since the triangle is Isosceles. So, AB=AC …………(1)
And also vertex lies on y-axis (A)
Let A be (0,y)=(x1,y1)
Equation (1) AB=AC
(x2x1)2+(y2y1)2=(x2x1)2+(y2y1)2
(10)2+(3y)2=(20)2+(7y)2
1+(3y)2=4+(7y)2
y26y+10=y214y+53
y=419
y=4.6
So, the co-ordinates of vertex A are A(0,4.6).
