Question

∆ABC is constructed such that AB = 6 cm, BC = 10 cm, and ∠A = 90⁰. Find the length of the third side.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Draw the line segment AB = 6 cm.

Step 2: Measure the angle A with your protractor (you can also contruct it using compass). Make a mark at 90⁰ and draw a line from A passing through the mark.

Step 3: Draw an arc with centre at B and radius 10 cm. The point at which this arc cuts the line through A is the required point C.

From the above construction, the length of side AC is 8 cm.
