The correct option is A 42 cm2

Side of square = 14 cm
Four quadrants are present on the four sides of the square.
Therefore, radius of the circle = 14/2 cm = 7cm.
Area of the square ABCD = 14*14 cm2 = 196 cm2

Area of each quadrant = πr24cm2 =(22/7×7*7)/4cm2 = 77/2 cm2

So, Area of the four quadrants = 4 × 77/2 cm2 = 154 cm2

So, Area of the darker shaded region = Area of the square ABCD - Area of the four quadrants = 196154 = 42 cm2
